Hello!  I am Mrs. Maestas.  I have been teaching for 13 years.  My experience is in first and second grade as well as special reading.  My Bachelor's degree is from the University of Northern Colorado.  I also have a Master's degree in reading and writing from the University of Colorado at Denver.  I have been married for 12 years and have two lovely daughters that attend Littleton Public Schools.  It is a pleasure to work at East Elementary.  The students are absolutely fabulous.  East's staff and parents are loving and supportive.  It's just a terrific place to be! 

First grade is such an exciting year.  The children are so sweet and enthusiastic.  We stay busy each day developing our reading, writing and math skills.  First grade incorporates science and social studies into the learning process through engaging students in a variety of unit studies.  Some of these include learning about mammals, reptiles and amphibians. We also study Native Americans as well as holidays and customs throughout the world.  These units emphasize reading, writing, math and language development.  Plus, first graders just love learning about them!!!

Parents are always welcome and encouraged to spend time in our class.  I always appreciate your time and help.  I feel so fortunate that you have decided to send your children to East Elementary.  Thank you for sharing them with me during this very special time in their lives.
